Graduate Teaching Assistant (Pastoral) – Primary School

About the role

SANZA Teaching Agency is partnering with a forward‑thinking primary school in St John’s Wood to hire a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This role is perfect for a recent graduate who wants hands‑on classroom experience before embarking on a PGCE or teacher‑training programme. You will work across Key Stage 2, supporting teachers and helping pupils thrive academically and emotionally.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support for KS2 pupils.
• Assist teachers with lesson delivery, group activities and targeted interventions.
• Help create and deliver engaging, practical lessons.
• Support pupils with additional learning needs or emotional regulation.
• Contribute to positive behaviour management, classroom organisation and routines.
• Participate in school trips, clubs and wider school events.

Required profile

• Recent graduate in any subject (e.g., English, Psychology, Drama, Education, Sports).
• Passionate about education and a future teaching career.
• Confident, proactive and committed to supporting primary‑aged pupils.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships.

Required skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• Organisational skills for managing small‑group sessions.
