Graduate Teaching Assistant – Special Needs School (North London)

About the role
This Graduate Teaching Assistant role supports children aged 3‑19 with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties at an outstanding special school in Islington, North London. It is designed for recent graduates who want hands‑on SEN experience before commencing teacher training.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with class teachers to deliver literacy and numeracy tuition.
- Assist in implementing each pupil’s Individual Education Plan, focusing on academic and life‑skill goals.
- Provide day‑to‑day pastoral support and help maintain a safe, nurturing environment.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, contributing to assessment and reporting.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to continuously improve practice.
Required profile
- Recent graduate (any discipline) with experience supporting children with special educational needs.
- Strong commitment to SEN and desire to develop teaching skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with staff and communicate effectively with pupils and families.
- Enthusiasm for helping children achieve academic and personal milestones.
