Group Accountant – Manchester (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking an ACA‑qualified accountant to join a fast‑growing, private‑equity backed business as a Group Accountant. The role is based in Manchester with a hybrid working model and offers the chance to move from audit into a commercial finance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the group month‑end close, ensuring deadlines are met.
• Review accounting entries for compliance with FRS 102 and best practice.
• Act as the primary contact for external audit, handling queries and requests.
• Produce and present variance analysis for weekly and monthly reporting.
• Partner with commercial teams to understand and reduce reporting differences.
• Identify risks and opportunities within financial performance.
• Own balance‑sheet reconciliation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes and implementing best practice.
• Support ad‑hoc projects in a fast‑evolving environment.

Required profile

• ACA or ACCA qualified, preferably trained at a Top 10 firm.
• Strong audit background with solid understanding of financial reporting and controls.
• Good knowledge of FRS 102 and statutory reporting requirements.
• Confident communicator able to engage senior stakeholders.
• Analytical mindset with a proactive, solutions‑focused approach.
• Interest in joining a high‑growth, PE‑backed business.
