Group Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Group Financial Accountant to lead statutory financial reporting, tax compliance and financial controls for our luxury fashion brand. The role will support our global expansion by ensuring accurate accounts, VAT submissions and cash flow management.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly statutory management accounts in accordance with FRS 102 and complete month‑end checklists.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations, including work‑in‑progress, inventory, fixed assets, accruals and pre‑payments.
• Oversee year‑end trial balance and coordinate statutory accounts preparation with external accountants.
• Plan and manage the annual external audit, acting as the main point of contact for auditors.
• Supervise accounts payable, review weekly payments and maintain general‑ledger controllership.
• Conduct variance analysis for P&L and balance sheet and produce weekly cash‑flow forecasts.
• Manage quarterly UK and Belgian VAT submissions and ensure import/export VAT compliance.
• Track group tax returns and meet filing deadlines in collaboration with external providers.
• Develop and maintain group‑wide IFRS accounting and reporting policies.
• Perform ad‑hoc budget‑vs‑actual analysis for all departments.

Required profile

• Recently qualified ACA (or equivalent) accountant, preferably with Big 4 audit experience in retail.
• Up to 2 years post‑qualification experience in fashion, e‑commerce or wholesale.
• Strong drive to improve financial processes and establish robust controls.
• Collaborative mindset with ability to build relationships with senior commercial, financial and legal stakeholders.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS accounting frameworks.
• Experience with FRS 102 statutory reporting.
• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• VAT compliance (UK & Belgium) and tax return coordination.
• Financial reporting, audit coordination and variance analysis.
