Head of Compliance UK

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing Series‑B payment institution to find a strategic Head of Compliance for the UK market. Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will own the compliance function, act as the primary liaison with the FCA and ensure the business meets all regulatory obligations while fostering a strong compliance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the UK compliance programme and develop strategies aligned with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with the FCA and other UK regulators, ensuring timely communication.
• Oversee implementation and upkeep of AML, KYC, GDPR and financial‑crime prevention programmes.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, implement controls and monitor regulatory changes.
• Advise senior management and the board on compliance matters and emerging trends.
• Design and deliver compliance training for all staff.
• Prepare accurate regulatory reports and meet submission deadlines.
• Collaborate with Legal, Risk, Operations and other functions to support business objectives.
• Lead internal and external audits, addressing findings promptly.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business or a related field.
• Relevant certifications such as ICA or ACAMS (highly desirable).
• Proven experience as an FCA‑approved individual within Payments, FinTech, EMI or Crypto.
• Deep knowledge of UK financial regulations, FCA guidelines, AML and data‑protection laws.
• Demonstrated ability to manage regulator relationships and influence senior stakeholders.
• High integrity, attention to detail and sound judgment under pressure.
