Head of Private Family Solicitor

About the role

Our client is looking for a Head of Private Family Solicitor to lead the private family law team across their London offices. The role involves managing a diverse caseload of children, domestic abuse, divorce and cohabitation matters while supporting the growth of the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead private family law work, including Children Act proceedings, domestic abuse applications, divorce and financial remedy cases, and cohabitation disputes.
• Develop business opportunities and contribute to the department’s growth strategy.
• Supervise junior solicitors and work closely with partners and senior management.
• Maintain high standards of client service and ensure compliance with billing and credit control processes.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with at least 3 years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong background in private family law and domestic abuse matters.
• Experience or ambition to take on a supervisory/leadership role.
• Ability to work collaboratively with partners and senior management.

Required skills

• Private family law expertise.
• Domestic abuse law knowledge (e.g., Non‑Molestation and Occupation Orders).
• Divorce and financial remedy handling.
• Cohabitation and unmarried couple dispute resolution.
