Head of Service – Adult Social Work (Front Door & Safeguarding)

About the role

This contract position leads the Adult Front Door and Safeguarding Service for a local authority in South East England. The Head of Service will guide a team through a period of transformation, ensuring high‑quality adult social work provision and safeguarding outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for the Adult Front Door and Safeguarding Service.
• Oversee service delivery, performance monitoring and continuous improvement.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements and local authority policies.
• Manage budgets, resources and staffing levels to meet service targets.
• Collaborate with partner agencies, commissioners and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified social worker with extensive experience in adult social work.
• Proven senior leadership experience within a local authority or similar setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead change and manage complex service transformations.
