HR Manager – 12 Month Fixed-Term (Hybrid)

About the role

Altum Consulting is partnering with a values‑led charity in the care sector to hire an experienced HR Manager on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. The role blends operational HR delivery with strategic project support, acting as the first point of contact for managers and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Provide HR advice and guidance to managers and staff, handling complex queries.
• Manage employee‑relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, capability and performance matters.
• Support organisational change, consultation and restructuring processes.
• Coach managers to improve confidence and consistency in people management.
• Contribute to HR projects across policy, engagement, EDI, performance, reward and recognition.
• Review and improve HR policies, processes and procedures.
• Use HR data and workforce information to support decision‑making.

Required profile

• Experienced HR generalist with strong employee‑relations expertise.
• Excellent knowledge of UK employment law.
• CIPD Level 5 or equivalent HR experience.
• Proven ability to advise managers and senior stakeholders.
• Experience handling complex ER cases and supporting change or restructuring.
• Excellent communication, coaching and relationship‑building skills.
• Collaborative, pragmatic and values‑led approach.
• Experience in charity, not‑for‑profit, social care or regulated environments is preferred.
