In-House Tax Manager

About the role

We are seeking a CTA or ACA qualified corporate tax professional to join a large, purpose‑led organisation as an In‑House Tax Manager. Based in Manchester with a hybrid working model, you will become the key tax specialist within the group finance function, advising senior stakeholders and overseeing tax compliance, reporting and planning.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate tax returns and computations for Corporation Tax, VAT and employment taxes.
• Advise stakeholders on tax implications of business decisions, projects, transactions and new initiatives.
• Act as primary contact for external tax advisers and HMRC, coordinating information requests.
• Monitor UK tax and accounting legislation changes, assess impact and communicate required actions.
• Identify and implement tax‑planning opportunities while ensuring strong governance and compliance.
• Provide commercially focused advice on ad‑hoc tax and technical accounting queries.
• Support wider regulatory returns within required timescales.
• Strengthen financial controls and improve tax, reporting and compliance processes.
• Develop policies and procedures in line with changes in accounting standards and tax rules.
• Enhance finance systems and data usage to improve reporting efficiency.
• Build strong internal relationships and act as a trusted tax adviser.

Required profile

• CTA or ACA qualification.
• Experience as a Corporate Tax Manager or Assistant Manager in a practice environment.
• Proven ability to manage tax compliance, reporting and planning for a complex corporate group.
• Strong understanding of UK corporation tax, VAT and employment taxes.
• Experience liaising with HMRC and external tax advisers.
• Ability to interpret and apply changes in tax legislation.
