About the role
We are looking for an IT Apprentice to support the digital infrastructure of the Department of Biochemistry within the School of Biological Sciences. This apprenticeship combines hands‑on technical support with a Level 3 qualification pathway, including preparation for the CompTIA A+ certification.
Key responsibilities
- Provide first‑line technical support to maintain essential IT services for staff and students.
- Assist the IT team in managing and improving the department’s digital infrastructure.
- Participate in real‑world projects that align with both your interests and departmental needs.
- Follow Firebrand’s Information Communication Technician programme and allocate at least 20% of work time to study.
- Collaborate with a diverse community of stakeholders, explaining solutions clearly.
Required profile
- Natural problem‑solver with a strong motivation to learn quickly.
- Persistence in finding solutions and ability to communicate them effectively.
- Age 16+ and not currently in full‑time education.
- Interest in technology and, preferably, an academic environment.
Required skills
- CompTIA A+ (pre‑qualification or willingness to achieve).
