IT Technician

About the role

The IT Technician will provide day‑to‑day technical support for Borough Academy, the newest secondary school in the HABERDASHERS' ACADEMIES TRUST SOUTH network. Working closely with the senior IT team, you will ensure that staff, students and stakeholders experience minimal disruption to teaching and administrative activities.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver first‑ and second‑line support via the school’s IT helpdesk, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and network issues.
• Maintain and upgrade the school’s IT infrastructure, keeping systems secure and up‑to‑date.
• Install, configure and maintain computers, printers, networking equipment and specialised educational software.
• Monitor system security and availability, implementing safeguards against unauthorised access.
• Keep accurate records of support tickets, equipment inventory and configuration changes.
• Liaise with third‑party service providers and manage procurement of IT hardware and software.
• Provide coverage for other schools in the Hatcham cluster when required.

Required profile

• Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience providing technical support in an educational or similar environment.
• Understanding of safeguarding requirements and a commitment to a positive learning environment.
