Kitchen Assistant

About the role

We are seeking dedicated Catering Assistants, Kitchen Assistants and Kitchen Porters to join our team, working in schools across Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex and Berkshire. As part of Scattergoods Agency you will support kitchen teams in various locations, ensuring smooth and efficient operations, primarily during daytime weekday hours.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and maintain kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
• Assist with basic food preparation.
• Wash dishes and kitchen tools.
• Ensure proper waste disposal and recycling.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries.
• Follow health and safety guidelines.
• Support kitchen staff during events and busy periods.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good communication skills and teamwork.
• Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Willingness to obtain a DBS check.
• Willingness to obtain Food Safety Level 2 and Allergens certification.
• Driving ability is an advantage due to multiple locations.
