Lead EC&I Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Lead EC&I Technician to oversee electrical, control and instrumentation (EC&I) activities at our Energy Works Hull plant, a 25 MW waste‑to‑energy facility. The role involves ensuring all EC&I work meets the px Group Operating Standard, including functional safety, cyber security and hazardous area management, while providing out‑of‑hours and emergency support.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the EC&I maintenance department and assigned personnel, ensuring safe and timely delivery of work.
• Oversee third‑party contractors within the EC&I discipline.
• Plan, schedule and execute safety‑critical works for internal and external resources.
• Support operations in fault recording, planning, investigation and rectification according to stakeholder priorities.
• Liaise with project teams to specify, hand over and manage major outage and project works.
• Assist the E&M manager in implementing site processes such as CMMS, maintenance workflow, LOPA and cyber security.

Required profile

• Time‑served apprenticeship or NVQ Level 3 in a mechanical discipline (or equivalent).
• IOSH Managing Safely certification.
• Significant experience in power generation, energy‑from‑waste or 24/7 high‑hazard operational environments, with line‑management responsibilities.
• Knowledge of generation assets, HV/LV distribution, DCS and instrumented systems.
