Legal Officer – Commercial & Data Privacy (10‑month FTC)

About the role

Perkbox is seeking a commercially‑minded Legal Officer to provide end‑to‑end legal support across the business for a ten‑month maternity cover. Reporting to the GRC Director, you will work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, Finance and People teams, as well as external counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a high volume of commercial agreements, including SaaS contracts, vendor agreements, customer MSAs, call‑off agreements and NDAs.
• Manage the contract lifecycle, maintain an accurate contract register in the CRM and provide clear advice on contractual risk.
• Respond to inbound legal queries from Sales, Customer Success and Procurement, escalating risks as needed.
• Collaborate with the DPO on data protection matters, negotiate Data Processing Agreements and support GDPR compliance.
• Monitor regulatory developments across the UK, EU and other markets, update internal legal policies and assist with corporate governance tasks.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with at least four years post‑qualification experience, preferably in‑house within a technology or SaaS environment.
• Proven experience negotiating commercial contracts and working with public sector frameworks such as NHS, local councils and government bodies.
• Strong knowledge of UK GDPR and practical experience drafting DPAs.
• Ability to work independently, manage a varied workload and communicate legal concepts in plain language.
