Level 2 Teaching Assistant – SEND/SEMH (M9)

About the role

We are seeking a resilient Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND/SEMH setting in Blackley, Manchester. The role starts in September 2026 and is full‑time, term‑time only, on a long‑term temporary basis.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
• Assist teachers with classroom activities, behaviour management and the promotion of independence.
• Help pupils engage with learning, regulate emotions and develop positive relationships.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists and other professionals to remove barriers to learning.
• Contribute to a safe, structured and nurturing learning environment.

Required profile

• Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
• Psychology qualification or degree.
• Experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs.
• Enhanced DBS for both Child and Adult Workforce, registered on the DBS Update Service.
• Strong behaviour management skills and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
