Maintenance Engineer – Heavy Industrial Plant

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established heavy‑industrial operation in the recycling sector at Trafford Park, Greater Manchester. The role offers a hands‑on, outdoor environment working on large‑scale plant and mobile equipment, reporting to the Team Leader.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown repairs on critical assets.
• Complete maintenance records using the CMMS system.
• Raise and review permits, risk assessments and method statements.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Attend maintenance and progress meetings as required.
• Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and report hazards.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the site.

Required profile

• Maintenance experience within a heavy‑industrial environment.
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering qualification (Level 3 or equivalent).
• Ex‑military or forces background welcomed.

Required skills

• Hydraulic circuit testing and fault‑finding.
• Understanding of valves, solenoids and hydraulic components.
• Rebuilding or resealing hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves or actuators.
• Welding proficiency.
• Use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
