Maintenance Operative – City Centre Residential Development

About the role

Join a prestigious residential development in Manchester city centre as a Maintenance Operative. You will deliver a high‑quality, responsive maintenance service for apartments and communal areas, ensuring residents enjoy a safe and comfortable living environment.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs, including plumbing, joinery, decorating and basic electrical work.
• Respond to reactive maintenance requests promptly and to a high standard.
• Perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) checks such as emergency lighting and fire alarm testing.
• Prepare new apartments for incoming residents and address repairs after tenancy inspections.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, compliance and health & safety.
• Conduct building inspections and health & safety audits.
• Escort and monitor external contractors on site.
• Support refurbishment, redecoration and capital improvement projects.
• Participate in emergency call‑out processes.

Required profile

• Hands‑on, proactive attitude with a pride in delivering high standards.
• Previous experience in maintenance, facilities or property maintenance.
• Good understanding of health & safety regulations.
• Strong problem‑solving, organisational and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Positive, professional and flexible approach.
