Management Accountant – Public Sector (Manchester)

About the role

This position offers a Management Accountant the chance to work within a medium‑sized public sector organisation in Manchester. You will be responsible for budgeting, reporting and analysis that support informed decision‑making and help deliver essential community services.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and statements.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes to support organisational objectives.
• Prepare accruals and pre‑payments.
• Analyse financial data and provide insights and recommendations.
• Support month‑end and year‑end close processes.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
• Collaborate with internal teams to streamline financial operations.
• Provide documentation for audits and assist auditors as required.
• Identify opportunities for cost‑saving and efficiency improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in financial reporting, budgeting and analysis.
• Hands‑on experience preparing accruals and pre‑payments.
• Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Proactive problem‑solver who works well in a team environment.
