Managing Director / Operations Director – Independent Financial Planning

About the role

This senior position offers the chance to take operational control of a respected independent financial planning firm that is heavily investing in technology and AI. Working directly with the Founder, you will help create a calmer, smarter, and more efficient business where advisers can focus on client relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and optimise operations across advice, compliance, client service, technology and people functions.
• Drive consistency, improve systems and processes, and ensure sustainable growth without compromising quality.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to embed AI and cutting‑edge technology into daily workflows.
• Oversee regulatory and governance frameworks to maintain operational excellence.
• Develop and mentor staff, fostering a culture of integrity and professionalism.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience within an independent financial planning environment.
• Strong understanding of regulation, governance and operational best practices.
• Demonstrated ability to improve processes, develop people and embrace new technology.
• Humility, commercial awareness and excellent judgement.
• Independent Financial Adviser experience is advantageous but not essential.
