Maths & Science Teacher – Secondary SEMH School (East London)

About the role

We are looking for a passionate Maths & Science Teacher to join a supportive secondary SEMH school in East London from September. The role involves delivering both subjects to students with social, emotional and mental health needs, ensuring lessons are engaging and differentiated.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver high‑quality Maths and Science lessons across Key Stages 9‑11.
• Adapt teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEMH challenges.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Collaborate with teaching assistants, pastoral staff and senior leadership to maintain a safe, structured learning environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour and promote positive relationships.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching secondary students, preferably with SEMH or SEN cohorts.
• Strong classroom management skills and resilience.
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing.

Required skills

• Effective lesson planning and delivery for Maths and Science.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.
• Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
