Mechanical Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater Projects

About the role

I.I.E.S. (Northern) Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its Widnes office. You will work on the design and delivery of mechanical solutions for water and wastewater treatment projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute mechanical designs for chemical dosing and treatment systems.
• Oversee product design projects from concept through to detailed engineering.
• Create P&ID diagrams and technical drawings using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.
• Collaborate with electrical, civil and process engineers to deliver integrated solutions.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in mechanical and design engineering principles.
• Experience in system and product design, preferably within the water or wastewater sector.
• Strong problem‑solving, critical‑thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented, on‑site environment.

Required skills

• AutoCAD Plant 3D (3D CAD modelling and technical drawing).
• Navis Works (viewing platform for design review).
• RECAP photogrammetry software.
• P&ID creation.
