Medical Negligence Solicitor (3-5 years PQE)

About the role

We are a national law firm seeking a Solicitor to join our Medical Negligence team in Birmingham. Working under Partner Sara Burns, you will handle a diverse and high‑value caseload that includes birth injuries, brain injuries, strokes, fatal claims and other complex clinical negligence matters.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of claimant medical negligence cases from inception to resolution.
• Provide empathetic client care, supporting vulnerable individuals and families through sensitive situations.
• Drive claims forward through investigation, pleadings, expert evidence, disclosure, settlement negotiations and, where required, trial preparation.
• Collaborate with nationally recognised specialist teams, building strong relationships with clients, experts, counsel and healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to team and business development activities, enhancing the firm’s reputation as a leading claimant practice.

Required profile

• 3–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in claimant work.
• Proven ability to handle complex, high‑value or procedurally demanding claims.
• Strong litigation experience, including adherence to court timetables and managing expert evidence.
• Excellent analytical skills with the capacity to give clear, practical legal advice.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
