Mental Health Assistant – Kidlington

About the role
Are you a Psychology graduate eager to gain practical experience supporting young people with their mental health and wellbeing? A specialist school in Kidlington is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Assistant to join their team. The role starts as soon as possible, works Monday to Friday, 8:30 am–3:30 pm, and offers a daily rate of £93–£110.
Key responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small‑group support to students experiencing emotional, social, or mental health challenges.
- Support students in developing confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with students, helping them feel safe, understood, and supported.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to promote a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
- Observe and monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour, engagement, and progress throughout the school day.
Required profile
- Compassionate, patient, empathetic, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
- A confident communicator with a genuine interest in mental health and wellbeing.
- Interested in gaining practical experience before pursuing a career in psychology, therapy, education, or mental health.
- Able to build strong, positive relationships with students and colleagues.
