Mental Health Support Worker – Children & Young People

About the role

MedGen Healthcare is looking for a compassionate Mental Health Support Worker to provide high-quality care for children and young people with complex mental health needs, including autism, ADHD and emotional-behavioural difficulties. The role involves supporting daily living, managing routines and delivering a safe, nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide emotional support and reassurance to children experiencing anxiety, distress or challenging behaviour.
• Assist children with autism and ADHD in managing routines, transitions and sensory sensitivities.
• Support daily living activities such as personal care, meals, hygiene and structured routines.
• Implement behaviour support plans and positive behaviour strategies in line with care plans.
• Safely de-escalate challenging behaviours using PMVA techniques when required.
• Maintain accurate, timely records of care provided and incidents.
• Promote a safe, structured and stimulating environment tailored to individual needs.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 months UK experience as a Mental Health Support Worker.
• Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD and challenging behaviour.
• Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to obtain.
• Current PMVA training or willingness to complete training.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding, child protection and professional boundaries.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
