MMA/Stick Welder – £29.78/hr – Rail Maintenance (Peterborough)

About the role

We are seeking experienced MMA/Stick welders to join a growing rail maintenance operation in Peterborough. The position starts immediately, offering a 45‑hour week on 9‑hour shifts with competitive hourly rates (£22.50 PAYE or £29.78 umbrella). This is a contract opportunity with the potential to become permanent.

Key responsibilities

• MMA welding repairs on rail vehicles and wagons
• Reactive and preventative maintenance activities
• Vehicle examinations (full training provided)
• Basic mechanical fitting and maintenance support
• Supporting slinging and lifting operations
• Attending occasional off‑site breakdowns
• Working outdoors in all weather conditions

Required profile

• Proven MMA welding experience
• Welding qualifications or certifications (desirable)
• Strong mechanical background
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel when required
• Flexible approach to occasional overnight stays
• Successful completion of drug and alcohol screening
