Payroll and Benefits Specialist – Theatre & Arts Sector

About the role
We are looking for a knowledgeable, calm and friendly Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join the HR & Reward team of a vibrant theatre and arts organisation. This part‑time role (22.5 hours per week) offers the chance to manage in‑house payroll and act as the main point of contact for staff benefits, reward schemes and pensions.
Key responsibilities
- Collate, check and validate all payroll information and correct discrepancies promptly.
- Work closely with senior leaders to recommend improvements to payroll processes.
- Perform regular financial accuracy checks and prepare statutory returns.
- Process payroll payments within set deadlines and maintain communication with external agencies.
- Manage staff entries and exits from benefit schemes, resolve related queries and safeguard personal data.
- Partner with HR to deliver timely payroll cycles and manage monthly pension tasks and communications.
Required profile
- Experience working in payroll within HR or finance teams.
- Comfortable handling both permanent and casual staff.
- Excellent communication, organisational skills and a calm, friendly approach.
- Strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and teamwork.
