Personal Injury Lawyer – Government Litigation Role

About the role

The Government Legal Department is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Lawyer to join its litigation team supporting a London‑based ministerial body. This locum position runs for an initial 6‑12 months with the potential for extension, offering exposure to a high‑volume, high‑profile caseload.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of private law Personal Injury claims from pre‑action through to appeal.
  • Develop and implement robust litigation strategies in line with Government legal policy.
  • Draft pleadings, statements of case, and other court documents to a high standard.
  • Monitor case progress, meet billing and time targets, and provide early warnings on priority changes.
  • Collaborate with senior counsel and other team members to ensure compliance with established procedures.

Required profile

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with strong private law/personal injury litigation experience.
  • At least 2 years post‑qualifying experience, preferably in defendant work.
  • Proven ability to handle a busy civil litigation caseload and meet tight deadlines.

    • £63,200 annual equivalent (£44‑£45 per hour) on a PAYE basis.
