Pharmacy Support Worker

About the role

The Pharmacy Support Worker will join the inpatient dispensary team at Southampton General Hospital, with the possibility of rotating to Royal South Hants Hospital. Working within a multidisciplinary pharmacy team, you will help deliver medicines to in‑patients and for discharge, ensuring a safe and efficient medication supply.

Key responsibilities

• Produce labels and dispense medicines for in‑patient and discharge use.
• Operate the pharmacy reception and assist patients and clinical staff.
• Support stock management and maintain accurate dispensing records.
• Work the standard Monday‑Friday shift (9:00‑17:15) and at least one late shift per week (finishing by 19:00).
• Participate in a weekend rota, typically no more than one shift in six weeks.

Required profile

• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Reliability and willingness to work flexible hours, including late shifts and occasional weekends.
• Commitment to patient safety, confidentiality and NHS standards.
