Pipefitter – Onsite (Glasgow, Govan & Scotstoun)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a skilled Pipefitter to join its on‑site team in Glasgow, covering the Govan and Scotstoun areas. You will work on high‑profile defence projects, fabricating and installing pipework systems for vessels and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Fabricate and install large‑ and small‑bore pipework using copper, carbon steel, stainless steel and other materials.
• Cut, bend and weld pipes with hand tools and mechanical equipment.
• Install utilities aboard ships, including sinks, showers and toilets.
• Fit and assemble valves, fittings and related components according to drawings and specifications.
• Collaborate with other trades to ensure timely project completion.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and adhere to safety regulations at all times.

Required profile

• Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent).
• Proven experience in pipe manufacture and installation on major projects.
• Strong knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications.
• Understanding of SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements.
• Previous experience in an industrial or commercial environment.

• Salary of £40,016 per year plus a 33% shift allowance where applicable.
