Practice Bookkeeper – Remote

About the role

This is a fully remote practice bookkeeper position with a modern accountancy firm based in Manchester. You will own a portfolio of service‑based SMEs, handling the complete monthly bookkeeping cycle and delivering accurate month‑end packs for review.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of 40‑60 monthly retainer clients with turnovers between £200k and £2m.
• Execute the full month‑end bookkeeping process, including bank and control account reconciliations.
• Code transactions, maintain accurate accounting records, and process purchase and sales invoices using Dext and Apron.
• Prepare VAT calculations for standard‑rate, flat‑rate and cash‑accounting schemes.
• Produce month‑end bookkeeping packs ready for senior review.
• Coordinate client deadlines and keep organised records across the portfolio.
• Communicate professionally with clients once fully established.
• Collaborate with the Monthly Pod Lead to resolve queries and uphold high standards.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of bookkeeping experience within a UK accountancy practice.
• Proven ability to manage at least 30 bookkeeping clients simultaneously.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong written English and confidence to interact directly with clients.
• Self‑motivated and able to take full ownership of a client portfolio.
