Preschool Room Leader

About the role

Zero2Five are delighted to be working with a high-quality, independent day nursery in Hither Green, South London. They are looking for a passionate and experienced Level 3 Room Leader to join their team and lead the Preschool Room. This role offers the chance to inspire a team and make a real difference to children’s learning, development and wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the Preschool Room.
• Lead and support the room team, creating a positive and welcoming environment.
• Plan and deliver engaging activities that support children’s learning and development.
• Embed the EYFS into everyday practice and act as a Key Person for children and families.
• Complete observations, assessments and next steps for each child.
• Ensure a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
• Support children’s independence, confidence and school readiness.
• Build positive relationships with parents and carers.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety procedures.
• Support and guide staff within the room and work closely with management.
• Attend training and contribute to continuous improvement of the nursery.

Required profile

• Level 3 Childcare qualification (essential).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in an early years setting.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding.
• Experience working with preschool‑aged children.
• Passion for children’s learning and development.
• Confident, organised and proactive approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lead and motivate a team.
