Psychology Graduate – SEND & SEMH Support Assistant (Primary Schools)

About the role
We are looking for a recent Psychology or Child Psychology graduate to join primary schools in Salford, providing essential support to pupils with SEND, SEMH, autism, ADHD and other additional learning needs. This full‑time position offers hands‑on experience in a classroom setting, working closely with teachers and SENCOs to promote inclusive education.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 and small‑group support to pupils with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Assist children in developing emotional regulation and coping strategies.
- Support classroom learning and targeted interventions.
- Build positive relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and independence.
- Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement inclusive practices.
- Promote engagement and participation across the school day.
Required profile
- Degree in Psychology, Child Psychology or a related field.
- Genuine interest in working with children and inclusive education.
- Passionate about supporting SEND and SEMH pupils.
- Patient, resilient and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication skills.
