Recovery Driver – West Manchester

About the role

The AA is looking for skilled drivers to join its recovery driver team in West Manchester. Although there is no immediate vacancy, candidates are encouraged to apply now so the company can contact them when a suitable position becomes available.

Key responsibilities

• Safely recover broken‑down vehicles and transport them to garages or customer destinations.
• Provide calm, empathetic support to members during stressful breakdown situations.
• Work independently across varied locations while adhering to a rolling roster (18 days on, 10 days off) and EU regulations.
• Adapt to flexible shift patterns, including evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays, with potential shift extensions up to 12 hours.

Required profile

• Full Category C (HGV Class 2) driving licence – Category CE (HGV Class 1) is a plus.
• Valid Driver CPC and digital tachograph card.
• Willingness to live within 25 miles (or 1 hour) of the depot (M28 2LX).
• Ability to work shift patterns and respond to breakdowns at any time.

Required skills

• Category C (HGV Class 2) licence.
• Category CE (HGV Class 1) licence (or willingness to obtain).
• Driver CPC certification.
• Digital tachograph operation.

• Guaranteed minimum salary of £31,405 (C licence) or £34,885 (CE licence) with on‑target earnings up to £35,000‑£41,000.
