Respiratory Consultant (Permanent) – NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

About the role

The NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is seeking a permanent Respiratory Consultant to join the Respiratory Medicine department at Inverclyde Royal Hospital. This full‑time, 10 programmed activity (10 PA) post offers a Monday‑to‑Friday shift pattern with on‑call duties and the opportunity to shape the future of respiratory services in Inverclyde.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the delivery of general and sub‑specialty respiratory services, including medical thoracoscopy, severe asthma, interstitial and pleural disease.
• Participate in the consultant medical receiving rota and provide in‑reach support to the High Dependency Unit.
• Contribute to service expansion, clinical leadership, and multidisciplinary team working.
• Integrate academic or research activities within allocated PA sessions, if desired.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise.
• FRCA (or equivalent) and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
• Evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT, or within six months of confirmed entry for UK‑trained candidates.
• Equivalent training documentation for non‑UK applicants.
