Response and Installation Officer (Manchester)

About the role

Join Manchester City Council's Community Alarm Service as a Response and Installation Officer. You will help keep residents safe and independent by monitoring alarm alerts and providing timely assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and respond to activation alerts from customer equipment within service guidelines.
• Communicate courteously with customers to assess needs and resolve situations.
• Install, maintain, and collect approved equipment in customers' homes.
• Collaborate with families, colleagues, health services, and emergency teams to enhance safety.
• Maintain accurate, confidential records on computer systems.
• Gather customer feedback and help resolve issues to improve service.
• Promote the service at meetings, forums, and events.
• Commit to continuous personal development and support service improvements.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to listen and communicate effectively.
• Excellent planning and organisational abilities to prioritise workload.
• Effective problem‑solving and decision‑making, knowing when to escalate.
• Proficient IT literacy across multiple applications and systems.
• Good administrative, literacy and numeracy skills.
• Willingness to work a 24‑hour rota, every day of the year.
• Full clean driving licence for operating a response vehicle.
