About the role
ZeroAvia is looking for a Safety & Reliability Engineer to join its Kemble team. The role blends system safety assessment with reliability, availability and maintainability (RAM) engineering to support the development and certification of zero‑emission aircraft propulsion systems.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct system safety analyses in line with ARP4761A (FHA, PSSA, SSA, FTA, FMECA, CCA, PRA, ZSA).
- Develop and execute reliability predictions and analytical models to meet RAM targets and certification goals.
- Define Built‑In‑Test (BIT) coverage and system health‑monitoring requirements, embedding observability into architectures.
- Generate clear safety and reliability requirements aligned with programme and airworthiness objectives.
- Define and recommend reliability test strategies, including RDGT and qualification approaches.
- Analyse in‑service reliability data to drive product improvement and inform maintenance and spares strategies.
- Develop robust safety arguments for complex technologies such as fuel‑cell systems.
- Support certification activities, including regulatory engagement and technical reviews.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (aerospace, safety or reliability preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of safety and/or reliability engineering experience in aerospace or a regulated industry.
- Strong knowledge of ARP4761A safety assessment processes.
- Proven experience performing reliability analyses, including prediction, FMECA, FTA and PoF.
- Working knowledge of reliability standards such as MIL‑HDBK‑217F, FIDES and Telcordia.
- Experience defining BIT strategies and system health‑monitoring architectures.
- Familiarity with ARP4754 development processes and aerospace certification frameworks (CS‑23, CS‑E, DO‑178C, DO‑254).
