SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School (East London)

About the role
The school is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs. You will work closely with the SENCO and teaching staff to create an inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the SENCO and teachers in delivering tailored support for pupils with SEN, both in class and during extracurricular activities.
- Help plan and prepare lessons that meet individual pupil needs.
- Monitor, record and report pupil progress to staff and parents/guardians.
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group assistance to pupils requiring additional help.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom atmosphere and follow school policies.
- Liaise with external professionals such as speech therapists, educational psychologists and social workers.
- Attend training sessions and stay updated on relevant legislation and guidance.
Required profile
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy and a positive attitude towards pupils with complex needs.
- Willingness to undertake further training and professional development.
