SEN Teaching Assistant – Temporary Full‑Time (Manchester)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers in Manchester. This temporary full‑time position offers hands‑on experience assisting students with special educational needs and challenging behaviour.

Key responsibilities

• Provide support to the classroom teacher in delivering lessons and managing student behaviour.
• Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for SEN students.
• Offer reading and writing support to pupils requiring additional assistance.
• Help maintain classroom discipline and encourage positive behaviour.
• Deliver 1:1 or group interventions.
• Monitor and record students’ progress.

Required profile

• Team Teach trained or willing to undertake training (or ECT).
• Prior experience as a Teaching Assistant.
• Experience working with students with challenging behaviour and SEN.
• Experience in alternative provision or specialist school settings is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of young people with behavioural difficulties and SEN.
• Excellent behavioural management skills.
• Ability to effectively manage a classroom environment.
• Familiarity with alternative provisions and specialist schools.
