Senior Architect – Construction Quality Monitoring

About the role

Mace is looking for a Senior Architect to lead Construction Quality Monitoring (CQM) across a multi‑disciplinary team. The role supports our UK offices and delivers a quality monitoring service for education projects, identifying workmanship non‑compliance, health and safety hazards, and other risks on site.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver site quality monitoring for education sector projects, ensuring compliance with contracts and manufacturers’ recommendations.
• Manage specialist consultants such as M&E engineers, fire consultants and façade engineers when required.
• Produce and present inspection reports using tablet capture software and online information platforms.
• Collaborate with site managers, supply‑chain members and other disciplines to apply sound construction judgement.
• Review works against JCT (and where relevant NEC) contract forms and advise on corrective actions.

Required profile

• Chartered Architect with a relevant construction degree or equivalent qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar CQM or site inspection role, preferably within the education sector.
• Ability to work independently, manage own workload and handle small‑to‑medium maintenance projects.
• Willingness to obtain DBS and basic security clearances.

Required skills

• Strong grounding in building technology and modern methods of construction (MMC).
• Familiarity with JCT contract forms (NEC knowledge advantageous).
• Experience using tablet capture software for site inspection reporting.
