Senior Associate Clinical Negligence Lawyer

About the role

Express Solicitors is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Clinical Negligence department. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of post‑qualification experience (PQE) or equivalent expertise, a strong track record in clinical negligence, and a genuine desire to progress towards partnership.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a mixed caseload of pre‑issue and issued clinical negligence claims, focusing on higher‑value and complex matters against NHS Hospital Trusts and GPs.
• Handle catastrophic injury cases, including amputations, brain injuries, and birth injuries.
• Work empathetically with seriously injured claimants while conducting required risk assessments.
• Collaborate with a dedicated secretary and assistant to meet targets and deliver excellent client outcomes.

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years PQE or equivalent experience in clinical negligence law.
• Proven billing record handling high‑value clinical negligence work.
• Law Society or AVMA accreditation is highly desirable; support for obtaining accreditation is available.
• Demonstrated empathy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to client care.
• Aspiration to develop a professional reputation and potentially become a partner.
