Senior Backend Developer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Backend Developer to join our growing software and transformation team. You will design, build and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js and TypeScript while shaping engineering standards and tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain robust backend applications and services with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Write clean, reusable, well‑documented code following modern engineering best practices.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and continuous improvement of backend systems and development workflows.
• Support and enhance internal development and build tooling.
• Implement industry best practices, design patterns and modern backend frameworks.
• Create and maintain automated unit and integration tests to ensure reliability.
• Collaborate with frontend engineers and cross‑functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Optimise application performance and assist with database query and SQL optimisation.
• Stay up‑to‑date with emerging backend technologies and share knowledge across the team.

Required profile

• Significant commercial experience in backend software development, especially with Node.js and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of the JavaScript/Node.js ecosystem and its evolution.
• Experience designing and architecting large‑scale or enterprise‑level backend applications.
• Solid grasp of software engineering principles, SOLID, and dependency injection.
• Proven experience deploying cloud‑based applications and services.
• Advanced SQL and database optimisation skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.
