Senior Commercialisation Manager - Life Sciences Licensing

About the role
The Senior Commercialisation Manager will lead the development and licensing of high‑potential intellectual property emerging from the University of Birmingham. Reporting to the Head of Intellectual Property and Commercialisation, you will guide opportunities from early assessment through to commercial execution.
Key responsibilities
- Assess and develop commercialisation opportunities across a diverse IP portfolio.
- Structure, negotiate and finalize licensing, option and other IP‑related agreements.
- Manage relationships with founders, academics, investors and commercial partners.
- Provide leadership, mentorship and strategic guidance to commercialisation colleagues.
- Balance commercial potential, risk, strategic value and institutional objectives.
Required profile
- Extensive experience in technology transfer or IP commercialisation, preferably within a university, TTO or start‑up environment.
- Proven track record of licensing deals, royalty arrangements and post‑deal relationship management, especially in Life Sciences or Pharma.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate opportunities from technical, market, legal and financial perspectives.
- Demonstrated people‑leadership and mentoring capabilities.
Required skills
- Experience in structuring and negotiating licensing and IP agreements.
- Knowledge of life‑sciences/pharma regulatory and market landscapes.
- Ability to assess technical and commercial risk.
