Senior Construction Legal Counsel – In‑House Solicitor

About the role

This senior in‑house position supports a major UK infrastructure organisation delivering a high‑profile transport and regeneration programme. Based in Birmingham with hybrid working, the role focuses on complex NEC contracts, procurement and strategic stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities

• Lead on complex NEC construction and infrastructure contract matters across major projects.
• Advise senior commercial and procurement stakeholders on contractual risk and strategy.
• Support negotiation of high‑value construction, funding and supply‑chain agreements.
• Provide guidance on contractual claims, disputes and risk allocation.
• Manage external legal advisers and contribute to strategic business decisions.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with extensive construction and commercial contracts experience.
• Proven expertise advising on NEC contracts within infrastructure, transport or large‑scale projects.
• Experience in high‑value procurement and commercial negotiations.
• Comfortable acting as senior legal adviser to executive and operational stakeholders.
• Track record of managing complex contractual risk, disputes and stakeholder relationships.
