Senior Contract Officer

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑focused Senior Contract Officer to join our Bedford‑based research and development facility. The role sits within the commercial team and supports the full sales lifecycle for defence‑sector projects, from bid preparation through to contract delivery and closure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review commercial proposals for bids and tenders.
• Negotiate and support contracts with major defence customers.
• Provide commercial advice to delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
• Apply governance and commercial judgement throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Assist with contract administration, reporting and finalisation.

Required profile

• Experience in contracts, terms & conditions or commercial management, preferably within the defence or technical sector.
• Self‑motivated, curious and strong problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage senior stakeholders.
• Organised, collaborative and able to simplify complex issues.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.
