Senior Engineer – Construction & Nuclear

About the role

The Senior Engineer will lead the technical delivery of a defined area on the Hinkley Point C nuclear site. Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will manage a team of around ten engineers and act as the key interface between site requirements, suppliers and design teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead an engineering team to ensure a "right first time" approach while complying with nuclear safety standards.
• Control site operations through approved method statements, risk assessments, task sheets and procedures.
• Oversee the preparation and execution of Inspection and Test Plans (ITP).
• Implement and maintain a design change system to support efficient procurement and construction.
• Collaborate with procurement to select appropriate materials, products, plant and systems, avoiding programme delays.
• Evaluate alternative solutions and use 3D modelling to develop methods, resolve issues and improve productivity.
• Prepare detailed design briefs and manage information flow, raising RFIs and technical queries as needed.
• Act as Deputy Temporary Works Coordinator for complex temporary works, ensuring compliance with company procedures.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a Temporary Works Supervisor (TWS) and/or Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) on large‑scale construction projects.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary engineering teams in a high‑hazard environment.
• Strong understanding of nuclear safety requirements and construction best practices.
• Experience in preparing and reviewing design briefs, method statements and risk assessments.
