Senior Health and Safety Advisor - Infrastructure Project

About the Role

Join BAM UK & Ireland on a landmark infrastructure project: the EGL2 HVDC converter station construction in North Yorkshire. As a Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a world-class safety culture, ensuring that health, safety, and wellbeing (H,S & W) are integrated into every phase of this major energy transition project.

Main Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain a robust H,S & W management system in full compliance with ISO 45001 and contractual requirements.
• Collaborate closely with construction teams, clients, supply chains, and stakeholders to ensure seamless H,S & W communication.
• Identify and mitigate risks from the design phase through to construction, prioritizing risk elimination at the source.
• Drive organizational H,S & W performance and promote a proactive safety culture across the entire project site.
• Conduct high-quality inspections, audits, and robust accident investigations.
• Lead and participate in collaborative forums, workshops, and safety meetings.
• Monitor and report on H,S & W performance according to strict contractual standards.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Advisor specifically within large-scale infrastructure or construction projects.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 45001 (formerly OHSAS 18001) standards.
• Graduate-level membership with IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health).
• Strong ability to provide daily expert advice and deliver internal safety training.
• Exceptional reporting skills for audits and accident investigations.
