Senior Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel with FCA and insurance regulatory expertise to provide strategic legal advice across a broad range of financial services and commercial matters. This high‑visibility position works closely with senior stakeholders, supporting day‑to‑day operations and major strategic initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate and advise on regulated and non‑regulated commercial contracts, including high‑value, strategic arrangements.
• Provide pragmatic legal advice on new products, services and business ventures, balancing regulatory requirements with commercial objectives.
• Support regulated entities on daily legal matters and lead legal input on key commercial projects for B2B and B2C activities.
• Partner with Risk, Compliance and business teams on regulatory issues and initiatives.
• Advise on insurance distribution and wider financial services regulatory requirements, ensuring customer outcomes and compliance.
• Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business.

Required profile

• 5+ years post‑qualification experience (PQE) as a solicitor qualified in England & Wales.
• Strong experience advising FCA‑regulated businesses.
• Extensive background drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and influencing senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of financial services regulation, including consumer credit, hire, personal lending, savings products, and preferably insurance distribution regulation.
• Ability to work on a hybrid basis, commuting to London as required.
