Senior Linux Platform Engineer

About the role

The Bank of England is expanding its technology footprint in Leeds and is looking for a Senior Linux Platform Engineer to join the CNI Platform team. You will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with London‑based colleagues while enjoying flexible working patterns and a modern office in the city centre.

Key responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day Linux system administration for physical servers, virtual machines and OpenShift containers.
• Ensure system reliability, availability and operational support for the on‑premise CNI platform.
• Automate routine tasks and manage configuration using the Bank’s standard tools.
• Plan and execute operating‑system upgrades and raise change requests through formal processes.
• Respond to user incidents, document fixes and, where required, implement code changes.
• Collaborate with Compute, Storage, Networks, Oracle and DevOps teams.
• Liaise with vendor technical account teams to evaluate upcoming features.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior Linux engineer supporting on‑premise environments.
• Familiarity with hybrid infrastructure spanning physical, virtual and containerised workloads.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid, collaborative setting across multiple locations.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a focus on security and reliability.
