Senior Paralegal – Right of Way

About the role

Staffordshire County Council is a modern, progressive authority that encourages innovation and employee development. The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload of countryside and public rights‑of‑way matters, with training provided where needed.

Key responsibilities

• Progress Definitive Map Modification Applications to conclusion, including investigation, research, report writing and presenting to a Panel of Members.
• Draft and serve legal Orders and Notices, submit to the Secretary of State and attend public hearings and inquiries.
• Provide legal advice to client departments on countryside and rights‑of‑way issues, including legal research.
• Adhere to the Legal Services Unit's LEXCEL quality standards.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Required profile

• Minimum of A‑level or equivalent education, or extensive experience in a similar role.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Local authority knowledge preferred but not essential.
• Strong IT skills.
