Senior Securities Finance Trader

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Equity‑Agency Securities Lending and Total Return Swap Trader to join Northern Trust’s Global Securities Finance Trading team in London. The role involves managing institutional client lending portfolios, executing equity securities‑lending transactions and expanding our equity total‑return‑swap offering.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day agency securities‑lending trading, optimise portfolio revenue while adhering to risk, collateral and counter‑party limits.
• Develop and maintain relationships with borrowers, prime brokers and market intermediaries to source lending demand.
• Identify and monetise lending opportunities across specials, corporate actions, index events and other market‑driven drivers.
• Support the build‑out, pricing, booking and risk management of equity total‑return‑swap transactions for institutional and alternative‑investment clients.
• Collaborate with sales, risk, operations and technology teams to enhance product platforms, controls and reporting.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in securities lending, equity finance, prime brokerage or synthetic financing.
• Proven ability to generate revenue and improve portfolio performance within a controlled trading environment.
• Strong understanding of equity markets, borrow demand, corporate actions and collateral mechanics.
• Experience engaging with broker‑dealers, prime brokers and other securities‑finance counterparties.
